JoyceDeWitt began her stage career at the age of 13. When she was 13 DeWitt started performing on the stage. She earned an undergraduate degree from Ball State University. When she performed in her summer stock she was persuaded by the director to attend UCLA's Department of Theater MFA Program. She was awarded the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship and the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt stated that she had never met actor Abe Vigoda while she was at UCLA. She worked as an assistant secretary while at UCLA. DeWitt is most well-known for her part in Three's Co's run between 1977 and 1984 as Janet Wood. This was an opportunity she was offered when she was chosen to play Janet in the second pilot. Janet also appeared in an episode of The Ropers in the year 1979. DeWitt began her acting career in an episode in 1984 on Three's Company. The actress returned to acting in a part in a production of Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse in June 1991. In the following year, she appeared in the 1995 TV comedy film Spring Fling! Pinky and the Brain featured an character modelled on her voice by another actress in 1997. The actress was also featured in an episode Cybill. [6] Some of her 2000s TV works included Hope Island and The Nick at Nite Holiday Special as well as Call of the Wild.
