
Allison Brooks Janney (born November 19th, 1959)[2] is an American actor. Her name is well-known due to her performances across a variety of types of screen and stage over a three-decade career. Janney received nominations for two Tony Awards and has been given an Academy Award as well as the British Academy Film Award. Born in Boston and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Janney got a scholarship for studying in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art following she graduated from Kenyon College. Janney began her TV debut in 1999 with the character C. J. Cregg as a character in the political drama of NBC The West Wing (2000-2006). In the course of her work, she won 4 Primetime Emmy Awards for this character. She won the Primetime Emmy Award in 2014 for Best Guest Actress on an Drama Series in the role of Margaret Scully's character on Masters of Sex. She was best known for her portrayal Bonnie Plunkett.
